About this grant

Atlassian Foundation Open Call for Proposals 2026

The Atlassian Foundation Open Call for Proposals 2026 is now open for registered nonprofit organisations working as part of collective action initiatives to improve education for disadvantaged learners in the AI era.

The Atlassian Foundation is deploying US$8 million over the next two years to help disadvantaged learners thrive in the AI era. Through this open call, each selected partnership can receive up to US$1 million over two years, alongside opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and optional access to Atlassian teamwork tools, support and resources.

📅 Applications open: 1 October 2026 (AEST)
📅 Applications close: 30 October 2026 (11:59 pm AEDT)
💰 Funding: Up to US$1 million over two years
🌍 Eligible applicants: Registered nonprofit organisations globally
🎯 Focus: Education, disadvantaged learners, collective action and the AI era
🚀 Funded work begins: May or June 2027

🔗 Apply and learn more: Atlassian Foundation Open Call

Atlassian Foundation Open Call for Proposals 2026

The Atlassian Foundation focuses on education because it’s the most empowering force in the world – it’s the key to breaking cycles of poverty and disadvantage.

But that key is slipping out of reach for far too many. UNESCO estimates that more than 250 million children are out of school. And for those in the classroom, learning isn’t guaranteed: 57% of children worldwide (nearly one billion) lack the basic skills they need for the era they’re growing up in. AI can expand access and accelerate learning. It can also widen inequality where it lands unevenly.

No single organisation can tackle a challenge this complex. That’s why the Atlassian Foundation is backing collective action: coordinated efforts by multiple players to solve shared problems at scale.

Atlassian’s mission is to unleash the potential of every team, so we’re uniquely positioned to power these efforts. We’ve spent 20+ years learning what makes teams work well together, and we’re offering that expertise – plus our funding, tools and hands-on support – to help collective action initiatives drive greater impact.

We believe a better world is built with better teamwork, and collective action is teamwork at its most ambitious. Together, we want to shape a future where emerging technology closes gaps for learners the current system leaves behind, rather than widening them.

About This Open Call

What We Are Looking For

In this open call, we’re seeking partnerships with collective action initiatives that are working to improve education for disadvantaged learners in the AI era.

We’re inviting applications from initiatives that meet all three of these criteria:

Direct relief of disadvantage: Work that directly relieves poverty or disadvantage for a clearly identified beneficiary group (not the general public).

Collective action: Multiple players working together – through shared goals, delivery & learning. Read more about how we define collective action.

Evolving education in the AI era: Initiatives helping education evolve so emerging technology closes gaps for disadvantaged learners rather than widening them. This call is not about AI for AI’s sake. It is about how the education sector, at all levels, responds to this seismic technological shift (and may include deliberate, reasoned choices not to use AI).

Who Can Apply?

The call is open globally to registered nonprofit organisations working as part of a collective action initiative.

Applicants from countries under international sanctions are not eligible.

Please see our eligibility checklist before starting your application.

APPLY NOW

What Our Partners Will Receive

Each partnership will include:

Funding

Selected partners can receive up to US$1 million over two years, capped at 25% of your lead organisation’s operating budget for the same period.

A Learning Cohort

Funded partners join a cohort that fosters peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.

Your budget should include funding for at least one person from your initiative to travel to the United States or Australia in 2027/2028 to participate in cohort activities.

Non-Financial Support

Optional non-financial support includes free access to Atlassian’s teamwork tools, support & resources, tailored to your needs.

Learn more at Atlassian for Nonprofits.

Atlassian Foundation Open Call 2026 – Key Dates

Key Date

Deadline

Applications open

1 October 2026 (AEST)

Applications close

30 October 2026 (11:59 pm AEDT)

Dialogue with shortlisted applicants

December 2026-January 2027

Applicants notified

By 31 March 2027 (AEDT)

Funded work begins

May or June 2027

Before You Start Your Application

1.
