Backend Developer (Java/Spring Boot)

Our partner is looking for a Backend Developer (Java/Spring Boot) based in United Kingdom.</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">Join a fully remote product development team working on modern digital products for ambitious organizations.<br>You’ll build reliable backend systems, APIs, services, integrations, and database solutions using Java and Spring Boot.<br>Your work will contribute directly to production features, with ownership extending from implementation through testing and release.<br>You’ll collaborate closely with frontend, QA, DevOps, product, design, and client-side stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.<br>The role offers meaningful autonomy while encouraging developers to challenge assumptions, communicate risks, and understand the wider product context.<br>You’ll work on a project currently expected to run through February 2027, with the opportunity to apply modern engineering practices in a distributed team.<br>This is an excellent fit for a mid-level backend engineer who values clean code, strong collaboration, technical ownership, and continuous learning.</p> </div><br><strong>Accountabilities</strong><br><div> <ul style="list-style-type: '• ';"> <li> <p dir="ltr">Develop clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Design, build, and maintain secure, reliable REST APIs and backend services for frontend applications and other systems.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Develop and maintain PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, indexes, migrations, data models, and persistence layers using Hibernate/JPA.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Translate product and business requirements into robust backend functionality and well-structured business logic.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Develop and maintain microservices within distributed backend architectures.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Implement third-party integrations, internal services, and other backend integrations based on project requirements.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Ensure data accuracy, consistency, validation, and correct handling of edge cases.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Write and maintain automated tests and collaborate closely with QA engineers to ensure appropriate feature coverage.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Take ownership of assigned backend features from implementation through testing, release, and delivery.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, product managers, designers, and other backend developers to deliver complete product features.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Identify and communicate unclear requirements, technical risks, dependencies, and potential blockers early.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Participate in code reviews, pull requests, and collaborative development workflows.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Contribute to improving engineering practices, code quality, maintainability, and team processes.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Use AI-assisted development tools where appropriate to improve productivity while applying sound engineering judgment.</p> </li> <h2 dir="ltr">Requirements</h2> <ul style="list-style-type: '• ';"> <li> <p dir="ltr">3+ years of professional backend development experience.</p> </li> <li> <p dir="ltr">Strong practical knowledge of modern Java development;
