Founding Design Engineer

<h1>About BoWatt</h1><p style="min-height:1.5em">BoWatt is building <strong>agentic requirements and systems engineering software for manufacturing</strong>. We believe AI will reach <strong>PhD-level engineering capability within the next 10 years</strong>. This will unlock massive value across complex manufacturing industries. Cars. Planes. Rockets. Factories. Chips. Medical devices. <strong>All will be engineered with agents.</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">We bootstrapped BoWatt to <strong>€500k+ ARR</strong> before raising our first round. BoWatt is backed by <strong>tier-1 investors</strong>, including Atlantic Foodlabs, Buildery (CDTM affiliates), and Prequel Ventures, along with angels from Cohere and Luminovo.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">You’ll join a small team of startup builders focused on <strong>speed, ownership, and execution</strong>. <strong>Over half the team are former founders</strong>, with backgrounds across DeepTech AI, gaming, and other startups. We’ve studied and worked at institutions and companies including <strong>Stanford, TUM, Google, EA</strong>, and <strong>YC-backed AI startups</strong>.</p><div style="min-height:1.2em;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0"> </div><h1><strong>The role</strong></h1><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You will define and implement our design system together with the product team and improve the overall UI/UX of our platform.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You will work closely with product to design beautiful user experiences for upcoming features.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You will build and ship features across our React / TypeScript / Tailwind frontend.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You will own your work, collaborate closely with the team (product, engineering and customer success) and continuously improve our app.</p></li></ul><h1><strong>You</strong></h1><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Are an engineer turned designer, or vice versa, or always have been the one on the team understanding the value of easy-to-use interfaces.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Have 3+ years of experience shipping frontend production code.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Have 3+ years of experience designing for the web.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Have a portfolio of projects that show your product sense and design taste.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">May have some interest in upskilling into backend development.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Are based in Germany and have the right to work here.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h1><strong>What we offer</strong></h1><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Competitive salary based on experience (€65,000 - €100,000)</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Equity in the company (0.5 - 1%)</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Fully remote, hybrid, or onsite?
