<h3>About the Role</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em">Join a lean, four-person engineering team at a fast-growing <strong>Series A fintech startup</strong> building an AI-powered investing platform targeted at the next generation of investors. With millions of downloads and a rapidly scaling user base, this is a high-ownership, hands-on role at a critical inflection point in the company's growth.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">You'll own the technical foundation across iOS, Node.js backend services, and AWS infrastructure — reporting directly to the Head of Engineering from our <strong>New York City office</strong>. Visa sponsorship is available.</p><h3>What You'll Do</h3><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Lead deep investigations into complex production issues spanning iOS, backend services, and cloud infrastructure.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Perform root-cause analysis across API layers, async workflows, data models, third-party integrations, and infrastructure.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Improve backend service reliability, correctness, and performance in <strong>Node.js and TypeScript</strong>.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Optimize <strong>MongoDB</strong> queries, indexes, and data access patterns for performance at scale.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strengthen AWS infrastructure stability across Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, deployments, and monitoring.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Improve observability using structured logging, metrics, and CloudWatch.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Reduce recurring bug classes by improving validation layers, error handling, and system boundaries.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strengthen CI/CD and release processes to reduce production risk.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build internal tools and scripts that improve debugging efficiency and engineering velocity.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Partner closely with product and engineering to drive platform-level improvements.</p></li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Required:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">3–7+ years of engineering experience, including time at a startup and exposure to systems at scale.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong production debugging skills — able to trace issues across iOS, backend, database, and AWS layers.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Deep experience building and improving backend services in <strong>Node.js and TypeScript</strong>.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Solid understanding of <strong>MongoDB</strong> performance, indexing, and data modeling.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Hands-on experience operating and optimizing systems in AWS environments.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">High ownership mentality with clear, structured communication in fast-moving environments.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Based in or willing to relocate to <strong>New York City</strong>.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Nice to Have:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfort navigating and contributing to <strong>Swift and SwiftUI</strong> codebases.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Background in fintech or payments.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong CS fundamentals.</p></li></ul><h3>Compensation &amp; Benefits</h3><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Salary:</strong> $170,000 – $220,000 per year</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Equity participation in a well-funded, high-growth fintech startup</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Visa sponsorship available</p></li></ul><h3>Location</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em">This is an <strong>on-site role based in New York City, NY</strong>.
