<h2>About Luo</h2><p style="min-height:1.5em">Luo is one of the fastest-growing FX and cross-border payments companies in Africa. We help African businesses pay their international suppliers faster, more transparently, and more competitively than traditional solutions.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Luo has built a sophisticated multi-currency payment infrastructure that constantly generates data related to B2B payments, treasury movements, FX pricing and financial reconciliations.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">We are now looking for a head of data to develop the Data function at Luo, and to enable every team to leverage data in their day-to-day operations and decisions. What you will build will impact every department: finance, operations, product, sales, FX trading, treasury.</p><h2><br />The role</h2><p style="min-height:1.5em">As head of data, you have three core mandates.</p><ol style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You work closely with the engineering team to help evolve our databases and decide data models.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You work with every business team to understand their data needs in order to deliver the dashboards and data tooling they need to be successful.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You are embedded in every product squad to ensure that new features do not compromise existing data systems, and that the dashboards the company already runs on do not silently break.</p></li></ol><p style="min-height:1.5em">This role requires both strong data engineering skills and the ability to communicate effectively with other teams about business needs. You will report directly to the CEO, who will help you prioritize the development of the Data function at Luo.</p><h2></h2><h2>What you will do</h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build and own the analytics layer the business runs on: dashboards and steering tools for finance, operations, sales, FX trading, treasury.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Help the tech team select and integrate new tools to build Luo's data infrastructure: data lake, data flows, data transformations, dashboarding and reporting pipelines.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Make the business teams autonomous. Document data models and train managers to query data within their respective scopes.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Review every schema change before it ships, arbitrate the data consequences of product decisions, and guarantee that no existing dashboard or reporting pipeline breaks on product releases.</p></li></ul><h2>What we're looking for</h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">7+ years of experience working in data.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong SQL expertise. In-depth experience with Postgres is highly appreciated.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong data tooling experience.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with dbt, BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform data ecosystem is appreciated.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with fintech data is appreciated (eg. multi-currency systems, FX exchanges, ledger systems, balance logic and financial reconciliations).</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Excellent communication skills and ability to create clarity around complex data problems.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Fluent French and professional English.</p></li></ul><p>Find <a href="https://www.arbeitnow.fr">Jobs in France</a> on Arbeitnow</a>
