<p>XRbit is a research insitute developing innovative at the intersection of technology, science and digital learning.</p> <p>Our interdisciplinary team combines software development, artificial intelligence, Extended Reality (XR), 3D technologies and interactive systems. We work together with universities, research institutions, educational organizations, museums and other partners to develop new ways of making complex topics accessible and tangible.</p> <p>As our research and development activities increasingly combine software with physical systems, we are looking for someone who enjoys turning ideas into working hardware prototypes.</p> <h2>Aufgaben</h2> <p>You will develop and prototype hardware systems at the intersection of <strong>camera technology, embedded computing, sensor technology, mechanics and robotics</strong>.</p> <p>A key part of your work will be the development of camera-based systems for computer vision and AI applications.</p> <p>These systems may range from laboratory prototypes to robust systems intended for continuous operation in industrial or outdoor environments.</p> <p>You will work closely with our software, AI and 3D development teams and help bridge the gap between software and the physical world.</p> <p>Your tasks may include:</p> <ul> <li>Designing, building and testing camera-based hardware systems</li> <li>Integrating embedded computing platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi or comparable systems</li> <li>Programming and connecting sensors, cameras, microcontrollers and other electronic components</li> <li>Developing suitable concepts for thermal management, ventilation and condensation prevention</li> <li>Producing prototype components using 3D printing and rapid prototyping</li> <li>Documenting hardware architectures, components and technical decisions</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifikation</h2> <p><strong>Your Profile</strong></p> <p>You should have a background in one or more of the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Mechatronics</li> <li>Electrical Engineering</li> <li>Embedded Systems</li> <li>Automation Engineering</li> <li>or a comparable technical field</li> </ul> <p><strong>Technical Skills</strong></p> <p>You should have practical experience with several of the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Programming C and/or C++ as well as Python</li> <li>Embedded systems/ Microcontrollers</li> <li>Linux-based systems</li> <li>Cameras and image acquisition</li> <li>3D printing or other rapid-prototyping technologies</li> </ul> <p>Most importantly, you should be comfortable combining <strong>software, electronics and mechanics into a working physical system</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable</strong></p> <p>Experience in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage, but is not required:</p> <ul> <li>Machine Vision</li> <li>Robotics/ Servo motors and stepper motors</li> <li>PCB design</li> <li>Electronics prototyping</li> <li>Ruggedized electronics</li> <li>Thermal management of embedded systems</li> </ul> <h2>Benefits</h2> <p>You will become part of an interdisciplinary environment where hardware development is closely connected to artificial intelligence, software development, 3D technologies and applied research.</p> <p>We offer:</p> <ul> <li>A technically diverse student position combining software and hardware development</li> <li>Practical work on real-world prototypes rather than purely theoretical concepts</li> <li>Direct involvement in research and development activities</li> <li>Work with modern technologies in embedded systems, computer vision, AI and robotics</li> <li>Access to prototyping and development infrastructure</li> <li>Close collaboration with an interdisciplinary development team</li> <li>A combination of on-site development work and remote work</li> <li>Opportunities to develop your own technical ideas and contribute to prototype design</li> </ul> <p>We are particularly interested in people who enjoy <strong>building things</strong>.</p> <p>You should be comfortable moving from an initial idea to a first experimental setup, testing it, identifying problems and improving the system step by step.</p> <p>For example, you might spend one day programming an embedded computer, another day testing a camera and lens combination, and the next day designing and 3D-printing a new enclosure or mounting system.</p> <p>You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed above.</p> <p>We value curiosity, technical creativity, structured problem-solving and the willingness to experiment with different approaches.</p> <p>Personal or university projects involving robotics, electronics, embedded systems, drones, cameras, 3D printers, automation or similar technologies are very welcome and can be just as relevant as professional experience.</p> <p>Interested?</p> <p>Please send your application, CV and – if available – examples or short descriptions of technical projects you have worked on (GitHub repositories, project documentation, CAD models etc.)</p> <p>Please only include information in your application that you consider relevant to your professional qualifications and experience.</p> <p>XRbit welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.
