Overhead Line (OHL) Design engineer

<p>Power Networks provides high quality consultancy services within distribution network (cable and overhead lines) and transmission (cable). We support our clients throughout every stage of the process — from early feasibility studies to design, execution, and project management. Our expertise also includes market, regulatory, and environmental analysis. Today, our work spans overhead lines and underground cables.</p><p>At Power Networks, we are approximately 30 employees located across our offices in Stockholm, Göteborg, Skellefteå, Linköping, Karlstad, Uppsala, Karlskrona, Kalmar and Jönköping. </p><p>As an Overhead Line (OHL) Design engineer at WSP, you will experience a great variety in your work, engaging in projects for multiple clients and network owners. Typical projects involve design, construction, and calculations within the overhead line segment, covering voltage levels from 30 kV to 130 kV. </p><p>Some of your responsibilies will include:</p><ul><li>Lead or contribute to overhead line design for medium voltage grids.</li><li>Perform tower spotting, line profiling, and routing studies.</li><li>Conduct sag and tension calculations according to international or Scandinavian standards.</li><li>Coordinate with Swedish internal teams.</li><li>Ensure technical compliance, quality, and design optimization.</li></ul><p>The team works together closely to achieve project goals while continuously sharing knowledge and experience to foster growth.</p><p>At WSP, we offer exciting opportunities to work on a diverse range of overhead line projects, both big and small. We strongly encourage close teamwork, even when working remotely.</p><p>In this role you can be placed at any of WSP’s offices in Sweden or where WSP has offices globally. </p><p>To succeed in this role, we believe that you have:</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.</li><li>At least three years experience in overhead power line design (33–130 kV).</li><li>Strong competence in tower spotting or sag/tension calculations.</li><li>Familiarity with PLS-CADD or similar design tools is a strong advantage.</li><li>Prior experience working on European or Scandinavian utility projects is a plus.</li><li>Knowledge of AutoCAD or Microstation. If you have experience in Icetow, AvCAD or similar programs, it is a merit. </li><li>Previous experience working as a consultant is also considered a plus. </li></ul><p>Additionally, we consider it a merit if you have familiarity with AMA standards, construction, and workplace safety regulations.</p><p>We operate in an international environment, so it is important that you are comfortable communicating in English.
