We’re innovating to solve new and complex problems where there’s no established answers and where the customer experience is key.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">We have a highly autonomous, flat structure, delivering our products in small interdisciplinary teams of engineers and PMs. We want to add a design voice as a pillar to this: understanding our users, leading our strategic direction, and ensuring the customer is always represented.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">You’ll operate across the business to raise the quality of all our design output - through both direct delivery, as well as enablement and coaching of others.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Alongside this, we’re looking for ownership and support on how Axle represents itself externally - to our prospects, clients, investors and potential employees.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>What you will be doing:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Understanding user problems and designing great experiences to solve them</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Building the systems that allow for strategic and scalable solutions - in Claude and code - to allow everybody to ship beautiful software, faster</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Deepening our culture of user research and getting into the weeds of how people experience Axle's products, both B2C and B2B2C</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Leading on our visual identity and finding new ways to tell Axle's story, through web, animation, and video</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Working with global clients to help them to improve their user experiences</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>This could be a good fit if:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You're energised by ambiguity and take a pragmatic, outcome-first approach</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You’re excited about bringing sophisticated technology to a broader audience and are happy to get into the technical details to do this</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You’re deeply curious about the world and how people experience it</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You have a strong aesthetic sense and know what good looks like.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>What's in it for you:</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">A meaningful slice of equity in Axle, alongside a competitive salary, with total compensation ranging from £75k–£200k (base salary + equity).</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">We operate with a deliberately flat structure and aim to keep pay equitable across the company, with a 1:1 median ratio between founder and team compensation.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Enhanced parental leave to support you through life's meaningful moments.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Bi-annual retreats to strengthen team connection &amp; shared purpose.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Hybrid working - We have a dog-friendly office around Farringdon.
