Product Engineer

<h3>About the Role</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em">We're a fast-moving, mission-driven energy technology company building the infrastructure that powers dynamic electricity plans for European households — and we're looking for a <strong>Product Engineer</strong> to sit at the intersection of customer discovery, end-to-end delivery, and engineering culture.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">This is a high-ownership, zero-to-one role on a small team operating in a complex, regulated domain. You'll work directly with customers, shape what gets built, and ship production-grade solutions to real problems in energy retail — billing, procurement, customer retention, and cost optimization. We're an AI-first team and treat AI-native tooling as a core force multiplier, not an afterthought.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">We're based in <strong>Berlin (Mitte), Germany</strong>. This role is fully on-site. <strong>Visa sponsorship is not available.</strong></p><h3>What You'll Do</h3><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Sit with customers to dissect problems and develop product intuition that directly guides engineering decisions.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Ship end-to-end solutions across the full stack — from discovery through to production.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Use AI-native development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) to accelerate output and increase your impact.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own zero-to-one problems such as dunning workflows, customer portal re-engineering, and other core product surfaces.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Prioritize ruthlessly — decide what to build, what to skip, and when to kill an initiative.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Solve core energy retail challenges: billing, procurement, customer retention, and cost optimization.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Shape engineering culture, tooling, and processes as the team grows.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Help recruit and raise the engineering bar across the team.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Adapt quickly to new tools and methods, and bring the team along to the frontier.</p></li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Must-haves (dealbreakers):</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Demonstrated track record of owning zero-to-one problems from discovery to production — we assess what you've shipped, not just years on a résumé.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">2+ years of software engineering experience delivering end-to-end, full-stack products to production.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Hands-on experience with AI-native codebases and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor).</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Strong requirements:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience solving billing, procurement, customer retention, or cost-optimization problems in an energy retail or similar consumer-facing domain.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Ability to ship end-to-end features that measurably reduce costs or improve customer experiences in production.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience shaping engineering culture, tooling, and processes in a small or early-stage team.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Nice to have:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience building or contributing to core products in high-engineering-bar environments or successful open-source projects.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfort operating with extreme ownership and thriving in ambiguity within a high-growth environment.</p></li></ul><h3>Compensation &amp; Benefits</h3><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Salary:</strong> $80,000 – $120,000 per year (USD equivalent)</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">High-impact role with significant scope to shape the product and engineering culture</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Work on mission-critical problems at the frontier of energy technology in Europe</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Small, senior team with strong ownership culture and fast feedback loops</p></li></ul><h3>Location</h3><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Berlin, Germany (Mitte)</strong> — on-site</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Visa sponsorship is <strong>not available</strong> for this role</p></li></ul><p>Find <a href="https://www.arbeitnow.com">Jobs in Germany</a> on Arbeitnow</a>
