(Senior) Backend Engineer

<br><strong>About the Role</strong><p>At InterNations, you build for our members, for the hosts who bring them together at events, and for your own colleagues internally. We want you close to whoever you are building for: asking why a feature matters, challenging requirements, and shaping the solution.<br> <br>Our engineering team architects, develops, and tests our products. As a Full-Stack Engineer, your mission is to build features end to end, from the browser to the database, on a platform that serves millions of views every month.<br> <br>As a member of an international, cross-functional Product Experience Team (PXT), you work closely with your Product Manager to architect, implement, and ship concepts and upcoming changes. You will write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. You will take part in cross-team initiatives: architectural changes, refactoring, and best practices.<br> <br> <br><strong>What we are looking for:</strong><br><ul><li>Relevant experience across the stack: a backend language like PHP, Python, or Ruby and modern JavaScript or TypeScript, as we are working with PHP and TypeScript</li><li>Experience with a modern web framework like Symfony, Laravel, Next.js, or React</li><li>Hands-on experience using AI tools in your everyday engineering work</li><li>Experience with automated testing on the unit, functional, and/or acceptance level</li><li>An interest in big datasets in relational databases, search indexes, or key-value stores</li><li>Excellent English, written and spoken, as it is our company language</li><li>Strong communication skills and a self-motivator, used to working with multiple teams across disciplines in a fully remote setting</li></ul> <br><strong>What we value:</strong><br><ul><li>Bettering our skills, teaching each other and learning ways to build better software</li><li>User testing, experimentation, automated testing, and continuous integration to gain meaningful feedback</li><li>Fostering collaboration and cooperativeness</li></ul> <br>Technologies we use: PHP, Symfony, MariaDB, Solr, RabbitMQ, Redis, Memcached, Behat, PHPUnit, TypeScript, Next.js, React, TanStack Query, MUI<br> <br>Where we work: We work fully remote and are looking for people based in Spain who already have the right to work there.
