Who cares about redefining how everyone around us can get the best financial applications, not for an exclusive few.<br /><br />If you're this person, we'd love to talk to you.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h2><strong>The Role</strong></h2><p style="min-height:1.5em">We are looking for backend engineers to build the core systems behind BJAK's AI Finance Agent.<br /><br />This role is for engineers who can build reliable APIs, workflows and financial product infrastructure that can scale across markets, partners and millions of users.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h2><strong>What they'll actually do</strong></h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build the system that connects to multiple insurance providers and requests quotes from all of them at once</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Design how those quotes get compared fairly and ranked for the customer</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build the customer database and the secure audit trail required</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Set up cloud hosting, CI/CD pipeline, observability and security (encryption, secrets management)</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p></li></ul><h2><strong>Must-have skills</strong></h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong backend development in Node.js / TypeScript (or very close equivalent, e.g. willing/able to work in it)</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience in relational database (PostgreSQL or similar) or non relational database (MongoDB or similar) — not just querying, but designing the schema</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience integrating with third-party APIs, especially handling timeouts, retries, and partial failures gracefully</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfortable working with sensitive customer data and security best practices (encryption, access control)</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p></li></ul><h2><strong>Strong nice-to-haves</strong></h2><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience in fintech, insurtech, or another regulated industry</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience building a "plugin" or "adapter" style system that needs to support many different external integrations over time</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with Redis or similar for session/cache management</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h2><strong>Location</strong></h2><p style="min-height:1.5em">This role is remote, but candidates must be based in <strong>UK</strong>. We are hiring specifically for this market, so applicants should already be based in <strong>UK</strong>.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h2><strong>Language</strong></h2><p style="min-height:1.5em">English is our main working language across global teams.
