Software Engineer II, Network Operations

<p>Marqeta is looking for a talented <strong>Network Engineer II </strong>to manage and support our physical network infrastructure. You will own and deliver projects in service of quarterly goals on the team and independently identify solutions to solve ambiguous, open-ended problems. This role can be performed remotely in the United States, only in one of our National locations, which you can review <a href="https://www.marqeta.com/company/salaryzones" rel="nofollow ugc noopener" target="_blank">here</a>.</p><p><strong>The Impact You'll Have</strong></p><ul> <li>Deploy, configure, and maintain Palo Alto firewalls across colocation and data center environments</li> <li>Manage network hardware deployments in colocation facilities including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers</li> <li>Configure and support Meraki-based corporate office networking solutions</li> <li>Implement and maintain VPN solutions for secure remote access and site-to-site connectivity</li> <li>Manage and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 data center network infrastructure</li> <li>Configure and optimize routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and MPLS for enterprise connectivity</li> <li>Collaborate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such as Equinix, and Card Networks such as Visa/Mastercard/Pulse to maintain and optimize connectivity, troubleshoot network issues and ensure SLAs</li> <li>Perform rack and stack operations, cable management, and physical infrastructure maintenance in colocation facilities</li> <li>Monitor network performance and implement QoS policies to ensure optimal traffic flow</li> <li>Troubleshoot complex network issues across physical and virtual environments</li> <li>Maintain accurate network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and runbooks</li> <li>Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 network support</li> <li>Implement network security best practices and maintain compliance with security policies</li> <li>Work with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure projects and application deployments</li> </ul><p><strong>Who You Are</strong></p><ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience</li> <li>3-5 years of hands-on experience with enterprise network infrastructure</li> <li>Strong experience with Cisco switches CCNP certification is a strong plus.</li> <li>Palo Alto firewall configuration, management, and troubleshooting</li> <li>Hands-on experience with Meraki cloud-managed networking solutions</li> <li>Proficiency in VPN technologies including IPsec, SSL VPN, and site-to-site configurations</li> <li>Experience managing network hardware in colocation and data center environments</li> <li>Strong understanding of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and MPLS</li> <li>Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, spanning tree, and routing and switching technologies</li> <li>Deep understanding of OSI model layers 1-4 and practical application in troubleshooting</li> <li>Experience with network monitoring tools and platforms</li> <li>Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for network automation is a plus</li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail</li> <li>Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment</li> <li>Ability to travel occasionally to colocation sites as needed</li> </ul><p><strong>Our (typical) process:</strong></p><ol> <li>Application submission</li> <li>Recruiter video call</li> <li>Technical interview focused on networking scenarios</li> <li>Virtual “Onsite” consisting of three 45-60 minute rounds</li> <li>Offer!</li> </ol><p><strong>Compensation and Benefits</strong></p><p>Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office.
