<h3>About the Role</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em">We're a seed-stage deeptech startup accelerating the discovery of new materials through physics-informed AI, robotics, and real-world experimental data — with a focus on the energy sector and other critical industries. Our software is the coordination layer between scientific intent and physical execution, and we treat infrastructure as a first-class product.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">As a <strong>Software Engineer, Infrastructure</strong>, you'll build and maintain the systems that connect AI models, automated experiments, and robotic platforms. Your work directly shapes scientific outcomes — reliability, observability, and usability aren't afterthoughts here, they're core product priorities. This is an on-site role based in <strong>Berlin, Germany</strong>.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><em>Please note: visa sponsorship is not available for this position.</em></p><h3>What You'll Do</h3><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build backend services in <strong>Python</strong> (FastAPI, Pydantic) to orchestrate real scientific workflows.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Develop data pipelines that convert raw experimental output into actionable signals.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Create internal dashboards and interfaces (React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Streamlit) used daily by scientists and engineers.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Maintain containerized environments and CI/CD pipelines to keep systems running smoothly.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Improve observability so teams understand system state proactively — before users notice problems.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Drive reliability improvements grounded in real failure modes and production experience.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Support job orchestration and ML systems, including integration with <strong>SLURM-based simulation clusters</strong>.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers.</p></li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Required:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">2–5 years of software engineering experience with solid Python fundamentals.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with containerized applications and foundational DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, etc.).</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfort working across the stack and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar territory.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you'll work daily with both scientists and engineers.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">A habit of writing clean, maintainable, well-documented code.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">English fluency; additional languages are a plus.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Nice to Have:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Exposure to scientific computing, ML infrastructure, or data-intensive systems.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Familiarity with SLURM or HPC environments.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with React / TypeScript front-end development.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Background or strong interest in deeptech, cleantech, or materials science domains.</p></li></ul><h3>Location</h3><p style="min-height:1.5em">This is a <strong>full-time, on-site position</strong> based in <strong>Berlin, Germany</strong>.
