Senior Manager, Data Center Design

This is a startup model: attitude and adaptability matter more to us than years of experience or the size of team you've previously managed.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">This is a cross-functional role requiring strong technical, commercial, and delivery capabilities, with exposure to executive stakeholders and EPCs, design consultants, OEMs, and every regional Project Director relying on one consistent design standard.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">You'll set and personally hold the line on Radiant's data center design standard for electrical, mechanical, civil and architectural design across every live project. In the early stages, you'll be doing a meaningful share of the engineering yourself, not just reviewing it.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Design</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Write and maintain the electrical, mechanical, civil and BIM design standards yourself - there isn't an existing standard to inherit.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Personally review and mark up design packages from consultants and contractors, not just sign them off.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Hands-on delivery</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Get into the detail on switchgear, cooling strategy (air and liquid) and structural design for GPU-density loads.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Sit in design workshops and RFI resolution directly with EPCs and consultants - you're expected to be in the room, not one step removed.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Write technical requirements and personally review technical responses from suppliers and contractors.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Team build</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Build out electrical, mechanical, civil and BIM leads as the portfolio grows - but expect to be the most senior technical resource on more than one project at a time in year one.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>What You Bring:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Attitude matters more to us here than number of years of experience.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong hands-on design experience in electrical or mechanical engineering for data centres or similarly complex mission-critical facilities.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfort producing or heavily marking up design output yourself, not just directing others who do.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Working knowledge of high-density GPU cooling (air and liquid) and power distribution/redundancy topologies.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Ability to set a standard from a blank page - you won't be handed one.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Confidence pushing back on consultants and EPCs directly on technical substance.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">We care much more about how you think through a design problem than the number of years on your CV.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, or related discipline).</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience designing for both European and US markets and codes.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Exposure to liquid cooling (DLC/CDU) design.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Chartered engineer status or equivalent, though not required.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Qualities we look for:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Set the standard: </strong>Every single day, you spot opportunities to constructively shake things up.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Inspire the change: </strong>There's no blueprint for the future.
