We deliver the graphene solution</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>The Role</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">We are seeking an experienced System Integration &amp; Characterization Engineer to join our Characterization Team. In this role, you will play a key part in the development, characterization, and industrialization of our graphene photonics products as we scale from R&amp;D to manufacturing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive product development, test strategy, quality assurance, and manufacturing readiness.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>To join our team, you should be excited to:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Test and characterize graphene photonics and electronic devices, including modulators, photodetectors, integrated circuits, and optical I/O systems, using advanced electrical, optical, and RF measurement equipment.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Develop, automate, and optimize characterization and production test methods, measurement scripts, and ATE solutions to ensure product performance, quality, and manufacturing readiness.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define measurement strategies, support design-for-test (DFT) implementation, and drive the transition from R&amp;D characterization to high-volume manufacturing.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Analyze and report measurement data to support yield improvement, statistical process control, reliability testing, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Establish and maintain test procedures, quality control standards, documentation, and training materials while ensuring compliance with industry and customer requirements.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Drive continuous improvement initiatives in test efficiency, process optimization, manufacturing analytics, and supplier qualification.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Your Qualifications</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">5+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor, photonic, and optoelectronic device characterization and test development.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong understanding of PIC, EIC, and optoelectronic device operation, including EIC-to-PIC interfaces and semiconductor device physics.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Proven experience performing electrical, optical, optoelectronic, and RF measurements using laboratory instrumentation, probers, and wafer-level test systems.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Hands-on experience developing and automating test solutions using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools for instrument control, data acquisition, and analysis.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience designing and building characterization setups, from bench-top experiments to wafer-scale test environments.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Knowledge of Design-for-Test (DFT), Automated Test Equipment (ATE), and production test methodologies.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Demonstrated success transferring characterization methods from R&amp;D into manufacturing environments.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with statistical data analysis, SPC, yield monitoring, reliability testing, and failure analysis.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Familiarity with Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM), process optimization, supplier qualification, and incoming material characterization.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Knowledge of semiconductor and photonic reliability qualification standards and packaging characterization is a plus.</p></li></ul><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience in a fast-paced startup or semiconductor manufacturing environment is preferred.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Our work culture</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>People Over Processes.</strong> At Black Semiconductor, flexibility is key—we ensure work adapts to life, not the other way around.
